Ritu Bhatnagar is a second-year law student at Boalt. She received her B.A. and M.A. from Stanford University in 2001. Prior to coming to law school, Ritu was a journalist, working in internships at The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and the Associated Press. At Boalt, Ritu serves on the Facuty Hiring Committee and the Dean's Search Committee. She is also on the editorial board of the Boalt Women's Law Journal and a member of the Roger Traynor Moot Court Team.  As SALSA president, Ritu oversees the activities and development of one of the fastest-growing law student groups at Boalt.  Ritu loves bhangra, botanical gardens, Indian movies, the written word, traveling, and anything sweet.

Anu Menon received her BA from Stanford and is currently a joint JD-MA candidate with the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International
Studies. She loves travel, anything chocolate and the color red, and she's a Capricorn. In her spare time she attempts to run the free world by serving as National SALSA president.

Smriti Rana attended college at the University of California, Berkeley, where she majored in Development Studies.  This is her third year of involvement in SALSA.  For the past two years, she has been politically active in the South Asian community around issues including hate crimes and immigration.  During law school, she has worked on many public interest issues, including domestic violence, immigration, worker's rights, and public benefits issues.  She is also an associate editor of the Asian Law Journal.   Smriti is coordinating the first Boalt SALSA scholarship program.  This scholarship will be awarded to a SALSA member to contribute to the local South Asian community by volunteering with a South Asian community organization.  She is getting SALSA members involved in political campaigns that impact the South Asian community.

Nisha Shah is a 2L and currently serves as the treasurer of SALSA.  She graduated from Claremont McKenna College in 2002 with a degree in math.  She plans to pursue a career in criminal law or litigation.  As far as non-legal interests go, she's a huge Lakers fan, plays the violin, and loves Southern California.  As treasurer, she does SALSA's accounting and work on fundraising.  She works with the Graduate Assembly and the Boalt administration to obtain funds for SALSA to host conferences, social events, and attend events at other schools.

Rishi Sharma, a 2L, was born and raised in Sacramento, California where he lived until 1998 when he moved away to start college.  In 2002 Rishi received a B.A. in History, Comparative Literature, and South & South East Asian Studies from Cal with a particular emphasis on the developing world (History), medieval literary forms (Comparative Literature), and the transmission of
Sanskrit literature into Hindi (South & South East Asian Studies).  His
interests in law school include matters of equal protection jurisprudence, issues of sovereignty, and procedural law.  Outside of law school Rishi
maintains an avid interest in the study of language and literature as well as a propensity to cook.  As the liaison between SALSA and the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association, Rishi facilitates communication and joint sponsorship of events between the two groups.

Monali Sheth is a 2L at Boalt Hall and currently serves as Public Service
Chair of SALSA. Monali is member of the Berkeley Technology Law Journal
and is also a participant in Moot Court and the California Asylum Representation
Clinic. She obtained her undergraduate degree in Ethnic Studies at UC
Berkeley and completed graduate work in Nationalism and Ethnicity at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Her interests include media, Bharat Natyam, travel, running and skiing.  As Public Service Chair, Monali spearheads activities which promote stronger ties between Boalt Hall law students of South Asian descent and the larger campus and community, with a specific focus on their South Asian American and Asian American constituents.

Ranganath Sudarshan is a 1L and is Boalt SALSA's web-master.  He recently graduated from Stanford University with BS and MS degrees, both in Computer Science.  His interests include the junction between technology, law, and entrepreneurship and he is currently involved in Boalt's Technology Law Journal.  He likes college basketball, traveling, Indian philosophy, and global politics.
